Salary: £16,800 per annum (£21,000pa FTE pro rata)
Contracted Hours: 30 hours a week over 4 days; usually Tuesday to Friday

The Avon Gorge and Downs are two of Bristol’s best-loved and important wildlife sites. They are home to rare plants, breeding peregrine falcons, endangered invertebrates and have large areas of meadow and patches of woodland. All of this makes for an exciting and stimulating place to learn about wildlife.
The area is looked after by the Avon Gorge & Downs Wildlife Project (a partnership of organisations including: Bristol City Council, Bristol Zoo Gardens, Natural England, The University of Bristol, the Society of Merchant Venturers, the Downs Committee, Bristol Zoological Society, National Trust and Forestry England).
A Learning and Engagement Officer is required on a fixed-term contract to work alongside the Avon Gorge & Downs Biodiversity Education Manager and a team of volunteers. You will teach stimulating, enjoyable and informative sessions for school groups, youth groups and play schemes on the Downs. You will help widen the range of groups that visit the Downs by promoting these sessions to new audiences. You will also plan and run children’s holiday events and provide activities at public events.
We are looking for proven teaching aptitude, experience of working with children, young people and adults. You will have excellent communication skills, good British wildlife/conservation knowledge and the enthusiasm to share this with others. You will also have the ability to work independently and in a team, excellent ICT skills, the ability to work under pressure and be flexible.
