We are delighted to announce that Visit Britain – the UK’s national tourism agency – has given Bristol Zoo Gardens the ‘We’re Good to Go’ accreditation.
What is ‘We’re Good to Go’?
It’s the new UK-wide industry standard and consumer mark showing that Bristol Zoo Gardens is safe to visit during the coronavirus pandemic.
It’s designed to provide a ‘ring of confidence’ for attractions as well as reassurance for local residents and visitors that clear processes are in place.
To keep staff, volunteers and visitors safe, we have worked hard to ensure that Bristol Zoo is compliant with the latest government and public health guidance.
So, what does this actually mean? If you’ve been on site since we reopened you will have noticed some changes to your visit, from pre-purchasing tickets for a timed slot to face coverings.
Below are just some of the changes we’ve made to ensure your visit is as safe as possible. For a full list of changes, regularly updated to follow government guidance, please see our FAQs.
Pre-Purchasing Timed Tickets
All visits MUST be purchased or booked online ahead of coming to the site (including members, and children aged under two). We have done this to stagger the arrival time of our visitors to manage capacity and help everyone maintain social distancing. This way more people can enjoy the Zoo throughout the day and feel safe. Our afternoon slots do not always sell out so these can be a great time to explore the site and see our new zoo babies.
One Way System
We have implemented a one-way route at Bristol Zoo to ensure that visitors are able to maintain the two-metre social distancing requirements. Some visitors have commented that the one-way route is actually a great way to ensure you haven’t missed your favourite animals! Take a look at our new one-way route map.
Additional handwashing facilities have been installed throughout the Zoo to help keep the Zoo safe for all of us. Also great to clean up little ones overindulging on our scrumptious ice creams!
Areas that are not yet open
We’re working very hard behind the scenes to get all our areas open again, when it’s safe to do so. We appreciate the messages of support we have had from visitors and appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. For updates on what areas are not yet open please visit our updates page.
Every effort has been made to ensure our visitors, volunteers and staff feel safe. Did you know that 97% of visitors who responded to our survey said they felt their visit was either ‘as safe or safer than going to a supermarket’.
So let’s pop the weekly shop on hold for now, and book a family fun day out to Bristol Zoo Gardens. Here’s to making fun and safe memories!
‘We’re Good to Go’… are you?
