The IUCN classifies the Balabac chevrotain as Endangered.

In the wild, they are threatened by habitat fragmentation, hunting, and being taken from the wild for the exotic pet trade.

Habitat

Our Balabac chevrotain lives in our new Tropical House, which has been designed to recreate a tropical forest habitat for its residents.

It lives alongside free-flying birds, as it would in its natural habitat in the forests of the Philippines.
